August wrap-up! August has been consumed by work, so there’s just a lot of running errands and sleeping in between. I have technically finished my measly reading goal of 15 books this year, so I am taking the time to finish a big book that’s been gathering dust on my shelf for over a decade.
This never-ending pandemic continues to wear us down, but here are some of the content that kept me mentally stable during the month of July.
Writing has always been a therapeutic activity for me. These two books reminded me about the healing magic of words and writing. One is aspirational, while the other is motivational.
Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo is the first book of the Alex Stern series. The protagonist, Galaxy “Alex” Stern—so named by a hippie mom—gets recruited by one of Yale University’s secret societies because of her mysterious ability.
This year is just zipping by! I’ve just been trying to level out in the past weeks, so not a lot of vibing. But I did have some fave reads and views in June, including Trese and Alias Grace.
Oh yes, this is another late capitalism rant. I recently succumbed to consumption after falling down the rabbit hole of booktube and booksta. Yes, even the seemingly sedate hobby of reading has been monetized to death!
